Yonex Super Grap is the king of grips for me. This grip really absorbs moisture and prevents slippage in the hottest, humid conditions. In fact it’s so popular that enough Super Grap has been produced to wrap the earth 1.5 times. It says so right on the package! I also like the Yonex grip because it is tapered at the start with a small amount of adhesive so you get an even start while wrapping the grip. This helps prevent creases when you are wrapping. It makes my racket feel like a race car.
Tourna Grip has long been considered the best. It absorbs moisture very well, maybe even better than the Yonex. However in my experience it does not last as long or have the same tack that the Yonex or Wilson grip has. However the original Tourna grip over grip is used by more top 100 touring pros than any other grip. It’s hard to argue with results like that.
Wilson High Performance Pro Overgrip. This grip is very similar to the Yonex grip. It may even be the same manufacturer. The only difference I can tell is maybe it has a little less tack and the packaging is different. Pro’s that use this grip include Roger Federer, Justine Henin and Guillermo Canas.
Then there is the Babolat Syntec and Prince MicroZorb Grip, both I feel are very similar to the Yonex and Wilson. They both are very absorbent, tacky grips with great feel.
Hmmm I’m starting to think they are all using the same manufacturer? But maybe you disagree with me? Which is your favorite and why? If I like your answer, I'll post in my blog along with statistics on favorites.
